The Frog from Light's Edge - Chapter 1

"Ah, who could say how Slunce was like in its early days? No recordings were left from that time. Well, except for the tale of the Frog from Light's Edge. Bah, and that's just a children's tale. What? You want to hear it anyway? Alright then, just let me get my booze, my throat gets dry quite quickly."


"Oh well, on with the story! According to the tale, the world of Slunce was divided into two parts: the Shore and the Light.
The Shore was a flying inverted mountain, with a flat top part, where dwelled "normal" living things. Underneath Shore there was the Light, the place from where sun came and to where sun went, a blazing sea of liquid sunlight that no living being could look at directly. No one could directly sustain Light's glaring."





"No one, as I was saying, was able to look directly at Light. No one, except for Basil.
Basil was a frog that lived in Light's Edge, a remote village situated near Shore's rim. He would sit in the border, looking at the huge sea below. He could watch the feral beginning of a new day, as the sun violently erupted from Light. He could watch the serene ending of a passing day, as the sun placidly settled down on Light. "

"So, knowing this, we can easily understand why Basil was the first to witness the change that took place on Light. He, amongst all the others from his village, was the first to see how the brilliance from below had diminished and, as soon as the villagers realized something was wrong and everyone tried to look over the edge, Basil saw that all of them could look directly at the blazing luminescence. Something was wrong at Light."
